The 8 Best Food Sensitivity Test Kits
This wiki has been updated 22 times since it was first published in November of 2018. Though still a relatively new field, at-home food sensitivity testing allows those who wish to narrow down the possibilities of what might be causing their tummy woes to obtain a list of potential irritants to look out for. While they aren't a substitute for allergy tests done by a doctor, you could learn things you didn't know about your body's reactions to common elements of your current diet. When users buy our independently chosen editorial picks, we may earn commissions to help fund the Wiki.

November 03, 2020:
We want to first explain that items in this category are somewhat fallible and accuracy is certainly not guaranteed. As such, they should never be used as a substitute for seeking proper medical advice from a qualified doctor. That said, certain kits do appear to have some slight degree of validity over others on the market and it's for this reason that although we removed four items in this update, the MiaDNA Genetic, the LetsGetChecked Celiac Test, the TestCountry ALCAT, and the FoodSafe Combo Panel we only introduced two new testing kits, dropping the list from ten items to eight, as we deemed other offerings too unreliable to even consider.
One such new arrival is the FoodMarble Aire, which is designed to register the amount of hydrogen in a person's breath in order to assess how their body is digesting various foods. The company claims this can help users to pinpoint ingredients that may be upsetting their stomachs and thus aim to eliminate them from their diet in the future. It's handy in the sense that it is portable and designed to be used after each meal, rather than a one-off test, so you can check your reaction in real time if you are feeling any bloating or other symptoms.
Another new addition comes in the form of the Imaware Celiac Test which we included as a good replacement for the removed LetsGetChecked Celiac Test. This kit studies four biomarkers in order to determine the probability of the user having this disease. It's is partnered with Beyond Celiac, an organization that aims to drive diagnosis and help people access gluten-free food. Though even with this endorsement, it is still advised to follow up on any results with a medical professional.
We retained the 5Strands Standard Package, which is designed for adults, and the 5Strands Pet, for their furry friends, as both kits test for sensitivities to 255 foods. The former includes an environmental intolerance test and a nutritional testing kit. These two latter tests are also available for pets, however they are sold separately.

The items that topped this list were those that tested for the widest range of irritants and those that had the most precise testing. It should be noted that IgG tests are not comprehensive and their effectiveness is debatable, which is why spending extra for a certain brand when less expensive options are available doesn't make a whole lot of sense, unless you are looking to get results on a specific ingredient. The best choice is always to see your doctor regarding potential health problems or extreme changes in your diet.
