The 10 Best Fishing Swivels
This wiki has been updated 19 times since it was first published in August of 2019. Not only are fishing swivels useful for preventing your line from twisting and tangling as a hooked fish thrashes in the water, they’re ideal for anglers who prefer to link their line to the lure using a leader, which helps minimize the chances of getting bitten off. They come in a variety of sizes and styles, including barrel, crane, ball bearing and snap models. When users buy our independently chosen editorial choices, we may earn commissions to help fund the Wiki.
Editor's Notes
August 29, 2019:
In building this list, we focused on making sure we represented the different types of swivels on the market today. The Yongzhi Portable contains several of them: a three-way connector, a couple styles of ball bearing swivel, and a standard fishing snap. We also included barrel swivels and a model with a built-in sinker, which is quite useful for certain fishing strategies.
While most swivels are constructed with steel or copper, the Aquateko Invisa is made with clear plastic, which makes it virtually invisible underwater. This lightweight model doesn’t feature a snap for directly attaching a lure, but it’s effective at preventing line tangling and won’t attract unwanted eyeballs.
The American Fishing Crane also eludes underwater attention, thanks to its compact size. Users seem thrilled with its strength, and its tough finish helps it maintain performance after extended use.
