The 10 Best Ergonomic Office Devices
This wiki has been updated 34 times since it was first published in January of 2015. When you're working long hours in an office, it can be tough to remember to take care of your body. That can lead to all sorts of physical complications, from back problems and elbow tendinitis to carpal tunnel syndrome, headaches and eyestrain. These ergonomic accessories can help to minimize the damage done by keeping everything in proper alignment, allowing you to work pain-free. When users buy our independently chosen editorial choices, we may earn commissions to help fund the Wiki.
Editor's Notes
July 30, 2020:
While ergonomics aren't exactly universal, there are some standards that can help reduce pain or even prevent repetitive strain injuries if they're implemented properly. If you're already experiencing issues with pain you suspect may be workplace-related, however, make sure you talk to your doctor before introducing any of these tools to your office.
We found a few of the items on our previous ranking to be a tad redundant, like the Rain Design mStand and the Kantek Height-Adjustable Monitor Stand, neither of which offered any simple kind of adjustability, and both of which were too small for a majority of modern devices. We replaced those with the TaoTronics Stand Up Desk Converter — a model I've actually been using daily since January — which is a great size for a lot of laptops and monitors, but still has a pretty small footprint in its own right.
We also upgraded out selections for keyboards and mice. The keyboard upgrade in particular was an important one, as its adjustable angles make it a smart choice for a large number of users, especially if you're already working with something like the Aelfox Memory Foam Rest and you want to have your keyboard angle complement it.
March 15, 2019:
Replaced the ViewSonic VA2855SMH SuperClear monitor with the much-newer HP 27-Inch Monitor, which can offer superior performance at a comparable price. We also swapped out the Gaiam exercise ball in favor of an actual chair, as the Smugdesk Chair provides plenty of back support with much less risk of falling over. A few of the items on this list aren't just comfortable, but they're also sleek and attractive, like the futuristic Anker Vertical Mouse or the gleaming Ergotron LX Desk Mount Arm. Unfortunately, while it can certainly help with foot pain or fatigue, nothing can make the Office Ottoman Foot Rest look cool.

CSI Ergonomics ErgoTron StyleView EMR If you need to maintain a small, mobile workstation, whether in a medical environment or even in a place like a mechanic's garage, this model will serve you nicely. It has a separate shelf for its keyboard, so you can adjust its height until the typing area is at a comfortable place, and the monitor should be right in front of your eyes. csiergonomics.com
Humanscale Solutions This company specializes in a wide variety of supplies to help create the ideal office environment. One of their specialties, which gets far too little attention in this sector, is lighting, as eye strain is among the most common culprits of reduced productivity, resulting in headaches and premature fatigue. As an added bonus, their offerings are a lot more attractive than most, though their prices are somewhat outlandish. humanscale.com
