Editor's Notes

June 25, 2021:

These relatively fancy mosquito traps use harmless carbon dioxide to mimic human breath and keep flying disease vectors away from you and your family when outdoors. Out of all their high-quality, high-tech mosquito traps, the DT150 Ultralight is the only one that offers notably inconsistent quality control. We've stopped recommending that particular model, simply because there are better options to choose from at similar prices, the DT2000XLP XL being the best-performing of all.

February 29, 2020:

DynaTrap devices release small doses of carbon dioxide, which is not harmful to humans. To flying insects; however, the scent is similar to human breath. For this reason, the manufacturer recommends keeping the traps at least 20 feet away from your sitting area. Otherwise, mosquitoes, flies, and other pests will be more likely to take the path that leads to you. And although Dynatraps are safe for use in homes with kids and pets, it is best to keep them out of reach.

For indoor use, DynaTrap offers the DT3012 Indoor Wall Mount and the DT3019 Plug-In. Both of these units use glue boards to trap insects but only provide a limited shield of protection. Outdoor models offer more coverage. The DT2000XLP XL and the DT1775 Atratakta Glo, for example, lure and kill mosquitoes up to an acre of land.

The devices start working the moment they are plugged in, but it can take three to six weeks to notice a real impact and disrupt the breeding cycle.
