August 05, 2020:
Those who have even a passing familiarity with art and coloring supplies won't be surprised to see that the Prismacolor Premier and the Copic Ciao Basic still come out on top. They may not be cheap, but they're made to last — in fact, the Ciao markers are refillable. They also offer high-quality nibs, which isn't true of some budget-friendly sets. That doesn't mean budget sets aren't useful, especially for those who color and/or draw casually, perhaps working in an adult coloring book to unwind after a long day at work. But speaking of budget sets, we decided to remove the Colorona Perfect, because some of the color names on the markers do not accurately represent the actual color. While this doesn't mean they're totally unusable, they can still be frustrating, and it's not worth it to many.
As for alternatives to Prismacolor and Copic, we still think the Ohuhu Permanent and the Tooli-Art 36 are good choices, especially for beginners. The Ohuhu model is a pack of 120 markers, so you'll certainly be spoiled for choice. We've added the Staedtler Fiber-Tip as a useful option, as well. Like some thin art markers, they can run out of ink faster than their thicker brethren, so these aren't necessarily the choice for coloring in large areas. On the other hand, if you need to create fine details or lettering, they'll get the job done.

Double ended art markers come with tips in a variety of shapes and sizes in order to perform a wide array of tasks, so we included a diverse array of sets to cater to every type of artist. Ensured that Prismacolor and Copic brands were frontrunners due to their unrivaled quality, and added the Kuretake Zig Memory System and Caliart Skin Tone for more specialized uses.
