This wiki has been updated 19 times since it was first published in August of 2019. If you're not comfortable opening the door when home alone, or if you get too many salespeople coming to your door, a peephole, like the ones in hotel rooms, will solve your problems. Our selection of viewers come in the most common finishes to match the hardware on your exterior door. They're surprisingly easy to install, especially if you're upgrading an existing model. When users buy our independently chosen editorial choices, we may earn commissions to help fund the Wiki.

1. Royal Home & Hardware Large

2. Defender Security U

3. Tripple 3 Vee Cyclops

Editor's Notes

August 13, 2019:

In choosing the best door viewers, we prioritized models that look attractive on your front door as this is the first thing your guests will see.

The Royal Home & Hardware Large takes the top spot because it comes in the most common hardware finishes and are quite attractive on both sides of the door, with brushed or polish metal and a security cover built-in. Plus the high-quality of the lens offers a clear view of the outside.

We decided to include the Digit Harbor LCD in this category because unlike the more complicated video doorbells that are generally installed to the side of the door, take and store tons of video, and require pairing with your smartphone and/or a monthly subscription, the Digit Harbor's outside piece installs in the peephole and this simple unit only takes a photo when a button is pressed.

4. Door Scope 2000

5. Focus Vision Narrow

6. Digit Harbor LCD

7. National Hardware V805
