This wiki has been updated 23 times since it was first published in May of 2018. For men and women who consider shaving to be an important part of their grooming regimens, whether tackling tough stubble or keeping legs silky smooth, we present these disposable razors. All of them are designed to be convenient, cost-efficient and effective. We’ve included everything from simple, inexpensive choices to models with plenty of bells and whistles. Editor's Notes
November 13, 2019:
All of the items on this list are completely disposable (that is, they don't accommodate refill cartridges) except for the Venus Snap. That being said, it is still technically disposable, but rather, has a longer lifespan than many others. This is because it is not built to last for an extremely long time — eventually, the handle breaks down with frequent use and will no longer accept cartridges, which makes it disposable in this editor's eyes.
Joining the ranks today is the Venus Tropical and the Schick Slim Twin. The latter offering came at the expense of the Bic Sensitive, which has many merits, but as far as simple razors with small footprints go, the Schick is superior thanks to its twin blade and a small amount of lubrication. It also has a textured rubber handle that is thin and easy to wield, unlike the Bic, which feels clunky in the hand. We also said goodbye to the Barbasol Plus Premium due to complaints regarding its longevity.
Many of these offerings work perfectly well with soap and warm water, but some, like the Soleil Bella, are almost too sharp initially to use with anything other than shaving cream if you have sensitive skin, otherwise, you'll likely get razor burn.
We love the Venus Snap, Schick Hydro 5, and Venus Tropical for travel, while items like the Gillette Mach3 and Bic Flex 5 boast well-thought-out designs and are feature-rich enough to merit a semi-permanent spot near your sink.
