The 8 Best Dash Cams For Motorcycles
This wiki has been updated 21 times since it was first published in January of 2019. It is often important to have video evidence in the event of an accident, especially when somebody else is at fault. Unfortunately, you can't just attach a regular car dash cam to a motorcycle, as they must be built to withstand the conditions and vibrations they will be subjected to on two wheels. These rugged models are able to provide you with all the footage you need in most riding conditions. When users buy our independently chosen editorial choices, we may earn commissions to help fund the Wiki.
Editor's Notes
February 10, 2021:
With motorcycle traffic accidents often being more serious in nature than with cars, and with bikes attracting less attention than larger vehicles, a dash cam can come in very handy in the event of a crash or incident. Not only do they give a frame-by-frame account of the accident as it happened, usually in high-definition video, but also record such details as speed, location coordinates, and exact time, all of which can prove invaluable, should you need to prosecute.
On the other hand, dash cams can be used for leisure, often coming with wired remote controls that let you easily switch the camera on to capture the exciting elements of your road trip, and many have Wi-Fi connectivity that allows you to stream your ride to family and friends.
Our latest update includes five models, namely the Viofo MT1, Blueskysea XB701, Thinkware Sports M1, WonVon MT1, and the Blueskysea DV988. Notable features include the rugged, weather resistance, aluminum enclosure, and impressive stability of the Thinkware Sports M, and the large capacitive touchscreen of the Blueskysea DV988. It should be noted that, while the WonVon MT1 excels in good weather conditions, the screen and console are not fully weather-resistant, and it comes with a rubber sleeve as a means of protection.
January 31, 2019:
We did our best to include the most durable and feature-packed motorcycle dash cams that offered good value for the price. We also tried to include as many fully waterproof models as possible, but unfortunately there weren't enough available on the market. We did however, make sure that any models with a non-waterproof monitor could be easily removed and hidden away in a trunk or under-seat storage compartment.
