This wiki has been updated 22 times since it was first published in March of 2018. As dawn melts into a bright, clear morning, or as the afternoon settles into dusk, the angle of the Sun can become particularly problematic for drivers. Not only is the glare irritating, it can be dangerous, too. With one of these car visor extenders, which come in a variety of shapes and sizes, you can prevent the blinding rays from dazzling you and affecting your view of the road. November 04, 2020:
Only a few car visor extenders met the criteria for quality, value, ease of use, and user satisfaction. As a result, we dwindled the list, getting rid of the Trillium Worldwide GS, the Keyfobworld Sunshade, and the VZCY Anti-Glare. Users complained that they didn't get much use out of the Trillium Worldwide GS because the clips broke after a few weeks. Likewise, buyers reported multiple issues with the Keyfobworld Sunshade (Heart Horse Shield), ranging from it did not fit properly to it drops in your lap while driving. And although the VZCY Anti-Glare does a great job blocking the sun, customers cited that the elastic was ineffective.
The Glare Guard Universal, along with the Visormates Black, Wanpool Anti-Dazzle, and TuckVisor Shade remain solid choices. We also added the TFY Sunshade, which is similar to the VZCY Anti-Glare. It is made using opaque polyurethane and polycarbonate and extends both vertically and horizontally. Plus, it has buckles on the end of the straps to keep it in place.

According to a study by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, glare from the Sun causes hundreds of car accidents every year in the U.S. Not only can the Sun’s bright rays inhibit your ability to see the road, but they can also cause harmful damage to your skin and eyes – which is all the more reason to protect yourself during long commutes when you’re staring at the Sun, sometimes for hours at a time. Enter the car visor extender, a handy tool for increasing the reach of your visor and making your daily drive safer and more comfortable.
The VZCY Anti-Glare joins the list as an opaque, full-coverage choice that’s great for completely blocking out the Sun’s bright light and accompanying glare. It’ll protect your skin and eyes from UV rays, and unlike some others, there’s no annoying gap of light between it and your car’s visor. It’s simple to install with elastic nylon bands, and can be extended both sideways and downward for just the right amount of coverage. It also acts a heat shield, which comes in handy during long commutes on hot summer days. Like many others, this one is easy to store in your glove compartment or center console when it’s not needed.
Retaining the top spot is the TuckVisor Shade, which features a creative design that you press flat against the window. You keep it in place by sliding it securely between the glass and the trim, and it effectively blocks out the sunlight and glare coming in through your side window. It’s available in packs of two or four, and is similar to the manufacturer’s ClingVisor, except this one is opaque. This patent-pending choice is made in the United States.
No matter which you select, before you purchase it, take note of the dimensions to make sure it’ll fit in your particular vehicle.
