This wiki has been updated 19 times since it was first published in January of 2019. If you've ever tried to take a picture on a particularly sunny day with your phone or a point-and-shoot, you likely had to contend with some serious glare. The cameras with viewfinders on our list don't have that problem, as they provide views of your subjects that are shielded from the sun. We've ranked the top models for you by their image quality, user-friendliness, and ergonomics. When users buy our independently chosen editorial choices, we may earn commissions to help fund the Wiki.

1. Canon EOS R5

2. Nikon D780

3. Fujifilm X100V

Editor's Notes

February 02, 2021:

It was an extremely busy round of updates, with 70% of our previous picks replaced by upgraded models.

While the Fujifilm X100F and X-T3 were replaced by the Fujifilm X100V and Fujifilm X-T4, The Nikon D750 and Z6 lost their spots to the Nikon D780 and Nikon Z6 Mark II. The Olympus OM-D E-M10 Mark III also got switched out for the Olympus OM-D E-M10 Mark IV, and the Sony RX100 VI was eliminated in favor of the Sony RX100 VII. Our last, and quite possibly most exciting, addition was the Canon EOS R5 — a 45-megapixel monster that easily out does the 30-megapixel EOS R that it replaced.

Beyond this extensive set of upgrades, however, we saw no major need for further modifications, believing that the last editor for this page struck a nice balance between consumer-level and beginner-professional models in the category.

Once you’ve gone ahead and picked out your next favorite camera, why don’t you go ahead and peruse our list of Best Camera Bags, and see if you can’t find a suitable carrier to go along with it.

January 25, 2019:

It didn't make sense to include the finest (read: most expensive) cameras available with viewfinders, as consumers actually looking for a camera with a viewfinder likely aren't looking to invest thousands in this purchase. Instead, offerings like the recent mirrorless bodies from Canon and Nikon garnered serious attention, as did similar products from Sony, Fuji, and Olympus.

4. Nikon Z6 Mark II

5. Sony a7 III

6. Olympus OM-D E-M10 Mark IV

7. Sony RX100 VII

8. Fujifilm X-T4

9. Canon PowerShot G1 X Mark III

10. Panasonic Lumix ZS200
