The 10 Best Bow Saws
This wiki has been updated 23 times since it was first published in October of 2017. Whether you need to hack through some downed trees to clear a path, do some basic pruning in the garden, or chop your firewood into easily-handled logs, one of these bow saws can help you get the job done. Depending on the blade, they are capable of cutting wood, bone, or metal, and many even fold up for compact storage. We've found options ranging from 12 to 30 inches in length. When users buy our independently chosen editorial choices, we may earn commissions to help fund the Wiki.
Editor's Notes
April 08, 2019:
We realize that not everybody has the same needs from a bow saw. Since your intended use will determine the best model for you, we wanted to make sure we included a nice variety of styles and sizes. The adventurous people out there who need something to take camping and hiking should consider the Gerber Freescape Camp, Agawa Canyon Boreal 21, Sven Saw, and Bob Dustrude Quick Buck, since these all fold up for compact storage. Their blade is also completely hidden when they are folded up, so there is no worry of cutting something else in your pack. If you are looking for a pruning model, the Sven Saw and Bahco 332-21-51 are both good choices, as they have slim tips that can fit into spaces other models won't be able to. For generally yard use and log cutting, the Bahco Ergo, Irwin Combi 218HP300, Bahco #9 All Purpose, Truper 30255, and Fiskars 7029 would all be up to the task. The Irwin Combi 218HP300 even comes with a hacksaw for cutting metal. If you need to cut large-diameter stock, the Bahco #9 All Purpose might be your best choice, with its 36-inch long blade.
