The 10 Best Bike Pouches
This wiki has been updated 22 times since it was first published in January of 2018. Although the fresh air and exercise you enjoy while cycling can’t be matched by driving a car, there are a couple of drawbacks -- one being an inability to easily transport your personal items. Using one of these bike pouches, though, you’ll be able to store your mobile device, keys, wallet, snacks and other useful gear. But just like when driving, only use your phone when stationary. When users buy our independently chosen editorial selections, we may earn commissions to help fund the Wiki.
Editor's Notes
September 09, 2019:
Three items — the ThreeMao Tube, AmazonBasics Wedge, and Outon Mountain Road — needed to be removed due to a lack of availability. We also decided to eliminate the Lumintrail Seat Pack after discovering significant issues with its durability. The seams at the top of the bag tend to rip even after light to moderate use, and the Velcro straps don’t seem to fare much better.
The Ibera Triangle stood out as an ideal candidate to move up in the rankings, as users seem impressed with its high level of water resistance and overall solid construction. It’s able to accommodate plenty of gear, with enough room for portable bike pumps, wrenches and other bike repair tools, and it’s quite aerodynamic for its size.
We added a few new models that vary a bit in size and style. We noted the creatively designed phone strap system on the VUP Universal as well as its prominent reflective strips that can be used for nighttime riding. The Moosetreks Tour is super convenient and easy to use, and the interior is even insulated to keep drinks cold. Some users buy two of these and install one pouch on either side of the handlebar stem.
Special Honors
Duluth Pack Banana It’s not cheap, but this bag from Duluth Pack offers professional craftsmanship and quality components that basic options won’t be able to match. It’s shaped like a banana to fit snugly under your bike seat, and rigid plastic inserts help it maintain its stability and shape. duluthpack.com
Slap Bag If you value speed and simplicity above all else, take a look at the Slap Bag. You’ll find an aluminum bar on the back end of the pouch that you can bend into place to activate its closure mechanism. Once connected, you’ll have fast, one-handed access to your essentials. slapbag.com
Frost River Wakemup Rolltop Functional storage is one thing — and this bag from Frost River certainly offers that — but if you want to haul your gear in style, its classy vintage design and handsome leather straps may serve as the basis of its appeal. If has a substantial capacity, but you can compress it down when it’s not full. frostriver.com
9. Social Ride Storage
Its capacity is, admittedly, a bit small, but the Social Ride Storage (appx. $11) is convenient in that it hooks up quickly under your seat and provides speedy access to its contents. You can choose from a wide range of colors to ensure it matches your bike.
