This wiki has been updated 28 times since it was first published in April of 2016. If bamboo cutting boards are prone to warping and splitting and need to be hand washed and carefully maintained to ensure a long life, why do so many cooks insist on using them? Perhaps because they're naturally antibacterial, environmentally friendly, gentler on knives than other materials, and they look great in your kitchen. If all that is important to you, then check out our selections. When users buy our independently chosen editorial recommendations, we may earn commissions to help fund the Wiki.

Editor's Notes

July 20, 2019:

Bamboo has a lot going for it when it comes to your kitchen. It's chemical free, easy to clean (though not dishwasher safe), dense enough to resist cuts, and does not easily absorb water, which means it is less prone to odors and bacteria growth. Cutting boards made from the stuff do require maintenance (but so do those made of wood): you should condition it at least once per month to help keep it from cracking and splintering and you should manually dry it after each washing.

In this update, we removed several items due to concerns about their availability and added the Simpli Better Multi-function. We like its innovative design because you don't have to get out extra dishes to store the food you are cutting, which helps a lot on small counter tops.

4. Totally Bamboo Pro Long

5. CC Boards 3-Piece

6. Totally Bamboo Three Piece Set

7. Organic Extra Large
