As popular as these chairs are, there's an overwhelming amount to choose from, so we've done our best to supply you with some of the worthiest contenders available. Editor's Notes

August 10, 2020:

Just like papasan and egg chairs, it’s hard to resist the relaxing allure of armchairs. As seductive as this style of seat may be, we urge you never to throw yourself down into one too hard or fast, as doing so can break them, or even worse, hurt you. Similarly, how you sit in any chair can lead to injuries and health issues over time, so please consider your posture and avoiding sitting for long spans whenever possible.

In general, we erred on the side of wider seats and higher backrests, since smaller folks can fit into larger chairs while the reverse might not always be the case. That being said, people with shorter legs may find models like the Modway Engage and Stone & Beam Leila uncomfortable because the seats are on the tall side, which could leave their legs dangling or at stiff 90-degree angles.

For the most part, we didn’t include recliners as we already have several lists dedicated to different varieties of those. One exception to this is the Christopher Knight Home Mervynn, which is such a good option that it would have made the list either way and just happens to be a reclining model.
