This wiki has been updated 15 times since it was first published in February of 2019. While you could certainly try to cut out perfect circles with plain old scissors, one of these arch punches will make the job not only faster, but also much more precise. They're designed to work with a range of soft materials, including rawhide, rubber, some plastics, and cardboard, which means they're useful in many applications, from making game pieces to creating leather jewelry. When users buy our independently chosen editorial choices, we may earn commissions to help fund the Wiki.

Editor's Notes

February 25, 2019:

We looked at arch punches that were made to go the distance, ultimately selecting the C.S. Osborne No. 149 and the Gedore Arc Punch as top choices. They're made to high quality standards from sturdy materials that won't wear out any time soon. Of course, this quality comes at a price, so they may not suit the casual user. For such on-again, off-again hobbyists, the Lang Tools 11-Piece might be a better choice. You may notice that it and the Mayhew are hollow punch sets; while they aren't technically arch punches, they're relatively similar and can potentially be used interchangeably in some instances. Just note that each of these options, no matter the strength, durability, or configuration, aren't necessarily made for punching through metals.

4. C.S. Osborne K-14 Set

5. Lang Tools 11-Piece

6. Connex 20 Millimeter

7. Mayhew Pro SAE Hollow Set

8. Allpax Punch
